Professor, Botany Department at the University of British Columbia
Patrick is a professor in the Botany Department at the University of British Columbia. Research in his lab focuses on the biology and biodiversity of seaweeds: from cell wall chemistry and tissue development, through ecophysiology and evolution, to ecology and community structure. Ongoing fieldwork along the central coast of British Columbia is documenting the impact of climate stress on seaweed communities, and recent lab experiments are investigating the impact of warming on growth, development, and reproduction of various kelp populations, helping improve methods for kelp restoration.
