Sentinels of Change Alliance Postdoctoral Fellow in Macroalgal Microbial Communities and Dynamic Ecophysiological Effects of Changing Climate

Nora's (she/her) research experience includes field and laboratory research on kelp ecology, ecophysiology and benthic assemblages in the Northeast Atlantic and South Pacific. Her experimental analyses of marine heatwave risk across latitudes and historical changes of macroalgal composition have resolved interesting trends. With the Sentinels of Change Alliance, Nora will explore how changing conditions in the Salish Sea affect macroalgal communities and their associated microbial communities (symbionts and opportunistic pathogens). Based at Quadra Island, she maintains close connections with Hakai's Quadra research teams and her co-advisors at UBC Vancouver: Dr Laura Parfrey and Dr Colleen Kellogg.
