Professor, Zoology Department and Director of the Biodiversity Research Centre at the University of British Columbia
Mary is a Professor at UBC in the Department of Zoology and in the Biodiversity Research Centre. In her research, she develops new models and understanding for how ecological systems change with climate change and biodiversity change. She leads a research team that uses mathematical theory, experiments, field surveys and community partnerships to deepen our ecological understanding in coastal ecosystems. Current areas of focus are seagrass associated biodiversity change, seagrass recovery and restoration, biodiversity change, and effects of environmental warming on biodiversity and the processes that underlie ecological change.
