Sentinels of Change Alliance Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Host-Microbe Associations in Marine Invertebrates
Liz Cooney (she/they) explores microbial eukaryotic diversity in intertidal habitats, with particular interest in protists that parasitize invertebrates and other eukaryotes. Using microscopy and single cell transcriptomic sequencing techniques, she elucidates the biology and evolution of the species she finds in these important coastal ecosystems. Based at UBC in Vancouver, Liz is a member of the Keeling Lab, co-advised by Patrick Keeling and Alyssa Gehman.
