Research Scientist with the Hakai Institute and Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia
Colleen is based in xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nation territory in Vancouver BC. Colleen is a microbial oceanographer at the Hakai Institute and an adjunct professor in the UBC Institute of Oceans and Fisheries. She has long-held interests in studying plankton communities along coastal margins where the influence of land (and people!) on the ocean is most acute, with experience on the west coast of British Columbia, from the Salish Sea to the Central Coast, as well as in the Arctic.
